Lucknow fire dept trains residents during safety drive
LUCKNOW, July 13 -- Days after the fire at a residential apartment in Aliganj renewed concerns over fire preparedness in high-rise buildings, the Uttar Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services intensified its awareness campaign across Lucknow, training 349 residents and staff in basic firefighting and emergency response.
The drive was conducted on Saturday under Scheme-10, launched on the directions of the director general, Fire and Emergency Services, Uttar Pradesh, to strengthen fire safety in residential buildings and apartment complexes.
According to the fire department, officers inspected 17 residential buildings and apartment complexes across the district to assess fire safety arrangements and identify deficiencies, if any.
"During the campaign, firefighters demonstrated the use and maintenance of primary firefighting equipment, including fire extinguishers, and trained residents, maintenance staff and security personnel on the initial response required in case of a fire," said CFO Ankush Mittal.
Officials instructed resident welfare associations and building managements to ensure that all firefighting equipment installed on the premises remains functional and is regularly maintained....
