LUCKNOW, July 31 -- Ahead of the month-long Sawan festivities and Kanwar Yatra, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate has instructed all personnel to interact with devotees with "sensitivity, courtesy and patience", shifting the focus from enforcement alone to a service-oriented policing approach. JCP (L&O) Babloo Kumar said police personnel deployed at temples and along Kanwar routes have been specifically directed to ensure devotees do not face inconvenience and to manage crowds with restraint and empathy while maintaining law and order. "To support the approach, women police personnel have been deployed at major temples and along Kanwar routes to assist women devotees, while Anti-Romeo squads, Pink Mobile units and women officers in plain clothes will remain on patrol throughout the pilgrimage," the JCP added. The commissionerate has also strengthened security at major Shiva temples, including Budheshwar Mahadev, Mankameshwar, Nageshwar Mahadev, Mahakaleshwar, Omkareshwar and Chandrika Devi. Plainclothes LIU personnel, Civil Defence volunteers and digital volunteers have been pressed into service for surveillance and community policing. Traffic diversions and barricading have been put in place around major temples to regulate the expected surge in footfall. Police said their social media cell will monitor online platforms throughout the festival and warned of strict action against anyone spreading rumours or posting inflammatory content....
