Lucknow, June 11 -- A number of artistes from Lucknow have been selected for the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards announced by the Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA), New Delhi, for 2024 and 2025. Senior Nautanki artiste Atamjeet Singh will receive the 2024 Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his contribution to theatre. The 2025 award in dance will be jointly conferred on Kathak exponents of the Lucknow Gharana-Pandit Krishna Mohan Maharaj, Pandit Ram Mohan Maharaj and Vaswati Mishra. Renowned ghazal singer Yugantar Sindoor has been selected for the 2025 award in music, while senior photographer Rakesh Singh will be honoured for artistic photography. Pandit Ram Mohan Maharaj, who is associated with Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, also conducts free Kathak classes at Kalika-Bindadin Deori, the historic seat of the Lucknow Kathak Gharana and now a Kathak museum....
