LU student in hosp as fee hike stir enters Day 23
LUCKNOW, June 25 -- A student participating in a 23-day-long protest at Lucknow University over a proposed fee hike and rustication of students was hospitalised on Wednesday after his health deteriorated.
Student representatives said Prem Prakash Yadav fainted after suffering from a headache and joint pain at the protest site. Fellow protesters first took him to a nearby hospital and later to Balrampur Hospital, where he was administered IV fluids.
The students alleged that the university administration had cut off water and electricity at the dharna site instead of engaging with their demands.
"The deterioration of a student's health at the protest site is a serious indication of the administration's insensitivity and negligence," the protesters said in a statement.
They demanded restoration of water and electricity, measures to ensure students' safety, and talks with the administration on the fee hike and rustication issue.
The university administration had not issued any official statement on the incident till Wednesday evening....
