Lucknow, Aug. 24 -- Lucknow University has introduced an additional 'UG Honours' pathway in the fourth year of its four-year undergraduate programme, alongside the existing 'UG Honours with Research' option, in line with NEP 2020 and the UGC's Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes. Students completing six semesters will be able to choose either pathway. The UG Honours route is for those seeking advanced study. Its 12-credit research component will be met through advanced coursework, allowing students with a CGPA below 7.5 to complete the fourth year and earn a 160-credit degree. Students with a CGPA of 7.5 or above (75%) can opt for UG Honours with Research, completing a 12-credit research project or dissertation under faculty guidance. Vice-Chancellor Prof J.P. Saini said the reform would make higher education more flexible, inclusive and student-centric, while giving students equal opportunities to pursue advanced study or research. A seven-member committee led by Prof Manuka Khanna will finalise the regulations, eligibility criteria, curriculum and implementation guidelines.
