Loo set to lash southern parts of Uttar Pradesh, mercury to rise
LUCKNOW, May 17 -- There is a likelihood of heatwave conditions returning to the region in the upcoming week with temperatures pushing the 45degC mark with the potential to increase further, the weatherman said.
In the absence of any effective weather system over the state, the weather is expected to remain predominantly dry over the next 4 to 5 days. Consequently, due to increased radiative heating, temperatures are projected to rise further by 2-4degC.
This is expected to trigger another spell of heatwave conditions originating in the southern parts of the state; with a gradual increase in both spatial extent and intensity. There is a possibility of heatwave conditions in several locations between May 19 and May 22.
An Orange Alert has been issued for certain districts in the southern part of the state.

In light of the resumption of hot Westerlies in the southern region, the weather will remain predominantly dry," explained Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at the Lucknow Met office on Saturday. He said, "Radiative heating is expected to intensify. Consequently, a gradual rise of 3 to 5degC in maximum temperatures is anticipated. A 'Yellow Watch' has been issued for certain districts until May 19, followed by an 'Orange Warning' valid until May 22."...
