Loco pilot spots iron rod on track, averts mishap
LUCKNOW, Feb. 27 -- An alert loco pilot prevented a potential rail mishap after spotting an iron rod on the track near Gosainganj in Lucknow on Tuesday night. He immediately applied the brakes, bringing the freight train to a halt.
Gosaiganj SHO Dilesh Kr Singh said an FIR had been registered based on a complaint given by senior section engineer (railway track) Anil Kumar Pandey, and police teams were scanning nearby areas and examining possible suspicious activity. The case was registered against unidentified persons under relevant provisions of the Railways Act.
According to railway officials, the incident occurred around 10:30 pm on the Varanasi route near Gangaganj. The engineering control room received information about an iron rod on the track.
Around the same time, the loco pilot of a goods train passing through the stretch noticed the obstruction and applied emergency brakes.
Pandey said the driver's timely action prevented a possible mishap. A railway team rushed to the spot, removed the iron rod and restored train movement within 10 minutes.
Officials said swift coordination between the control room and on-ground staff ensured that operations returned to normal quickly and no damage was reported....
