Locked house burgled in 20 mins, CCTV captures two bike-borne thieves
PRAYAGRAJ, March 16 -- Thieves targeted a locked house in Preetamnagar and fled with jewellery and cash worth lakhs of rupees in just 20 minutes. The entire incident was captured on nearby CCTV cameras, which showed two bike-borne suspects loitering outside the residence before leaving with bags in their hands. Based on the footage, Dhoomanganj police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused.
According to Gaurang Singh, a resident of Preetamnagar, he left his home for work around 6 pm on March 12. Soon after, his mother went to a temple, while his father locked the house and left for the market at about 7:30 pm. When his mother returned around 8:30 pm, she found that the channel lock on the main gate had been broken. After entering the house, the family discovered that jewellery worth lakhs of rupees-including gold chains, necklaces, rings, nose rings and mangalsutras-along with Rs.25,000 in cash, had been stolen from the wardrobe.
CCTV footage from the locality shows two suspects arriving on a motorcycle. They were initially seen loitering near a shop outside the lane before taking the opportunity to break the lock and enter the house at around 8:15 pm. At about 8:30 pm, both suspects were captured leaving the spot with bags containing the stolen items.
