LMC's June-end deadline for key projects
LUCKNOW, May 15 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC), amid delays in several civic infrastructure works, has set June-end deadlines for multiple ongoing projects across the city, including CM Grid roads, drainage systems, zonal offices and urban beautification works.
Municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar on Thursday carried out an inspection of major development projects and directed officials to speed up construction while ensuring quality standards. He warned against delays and asked departments to complete pending works within fixed timelines.
Accompanied by additional municipal commissioner Arvind Kumar Rao and chief engineer (civil) Mahesh Verma, Kumar inspected key projects including the Chakbast zonal office, CM Grid roads, Rajni Khand drain, Haibatmau Lake, Kanha Upvan, AMRUT 2.0 works, and facilities in Amausi.
During the inspection of the Chakbast zonal office, the commissioner directed officials to run construction work in double shifts and complete the building by June-end. He also asked engineers to finish fire safety-related work within 15 days. Reviewing CM Grid road projects, Kumar expressed concern over exposed high-tension power lines near the IGNOU Regional Centre selfie point. He directed officials to shift the lines underground before June-end to address safety concerns and improve the site's appearance.
At Rajni Khand, he reviewed drain construction work under the CM Grid project. Officials informed him that 150 metres of the proposed 250-metre drain had been completed, while the remaining stretch is expected to be finished by June-end.
The commissioner also reviewed the Haibatmau Lake project and directed officials to complete landscaping, horticulture and finishing work within this month.
At Kanha Upvan in Nadarganj, he inspected the proposed school project and directed officials to speed up boundary wall construction and the tender process. He also ordered repair of damaged walls, establishment of a permanent vehicle workshop and preparation of a township-style housing model for employees. Faster progress on the sewage treatment plant (STP) project was also directed.
Inspecting AMRUT 2.0 works at Radha Sarovar and Prem Sarovar, Kumar asked officials to maintain quality standards and rectify shortcomings immediately. At the Amausi gaushala, he directed officials to increase greenery, undertake landscaping, install high-mast lights and widen the main gate. He also proposed developing a Kamdhenu cow sculpture using metal scrap.
Later, during inspection of the animal birth control (ABC) Centre, the commissioner directed officials to complete electricity connections and handover formalities soon after construction is completed....
