LUCKNOW, May 13 -- The Uttar Pradesh Police has secured convictions in 328 criminal cases across 10 districts of Lucknow Zone - Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Rae Bareli, Hardoi, Unnao, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Barabanki, Ambedkar Nagar and Amethi - in just over four months under "Operation Conviction". The punishments range from life imprisonment to death penalty in serious offences, senior police officials said on Tuesday. Additional director general (Lucknow Zone) Praveen Kumar said the campaign had ensured faster convictions through scientific investigation, close coordination with prosecutors and continuous monitoring of trials. Official figures released by the police showed that between January 1 and May 10, 2026, districts under Lucknow Zone achieved these convictions. The campaign aims to ensure time-bound convictions through scientific investigation, stronger prosecution support, timely production of witnesses and evidence, and regular review of pending trials. Kheri recorded the highest number of convictions with 92 cases, followed by Barabanki (47), Rae Bareli (45) and Ayodhya (43).
