VARANASI, Sept. 15 -- Two men were killed and another injured after lightning struck a tree under which they had taken shelter from heavy rain in Ballia district on Monday, police said. The incident occurred in Kasonder village under Bhimpura police station in the afternoon. Several people had gathered under the tree when lightning struck it, they said. Ranjit Kumar, 33, and Anurag Kumar, 24, died on the spot, while Chhotu Kumar, 32, suffered burn injuries and was admitted to a private hospital.
