LUCKNOW, Sept. 12 -- A 36-year-old LIC insurance agent was shot at by two unidentified assailants near a mobile and electronics shop in Malihabad on Friday evening, police said. The incident took place around 7pm near Durgesh Mobile and Electronics shop, located opposite the Bank of India branch in Dhedhemau area. The victim, Samendra Yadav, a resident of Saifalpur village under Kakori police station, had reportedly gone to the shop to get some documents photocopied when the attackers approached him and opened fire, according to the police. Yadav sustained a gunshot injury and was initially taken to the community health centre (CHC) in Malihabad. Doctors referred him to the trauma centre of KGMU in Lucknow after his condition was found to be serious, police said. CCTV footage from cameras installed at the shop and nearby locations is being examined to identify the attackers, police said. ACP Malihabad Gyanendra Singh said the victim had sustained a gunshot injury. "We are speaking to his family and taking their complaint for further legal action," he said.
