LUCKNOW, Sept. 3 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has sharply increased its proposed expenditure on ongoing and upcoming development works, revising the outlay from Rs.2,102.10 crore to Rs.4,034.10 crore, an increase of nearly Rs.1,932 crore, officials said. The LDA Board approved the revised proposals on August 22, according to an official document. The biggest allocation will go towards land acquisition, with Rs.3,750 crore earmarked for land compensation and purchase. LDA senior officials said the board meeting was held internally and the minutes had now been signed. The authority has proposed Rs.250 crore for land compensation and Rs.3,500 crore for land purchase. The move assumes significance as the LDA plans to acquire 416.03 hectares for the proposed Chief Minister Urban Expansion Scheme. The authority has sought Rs.390 crore from the state government for the scheme. The revised budget also increases allocations for several other activities. The LDA has raised the provision for office building maintenance from Rs.30 crore to Rs.40 crore, expenditure on new parks and their maintenance from Rs.30 crore to Rs.60 crore, and digitisation, c omputerisation and the new ERP system from Rs.10 crore to Rs.15 crore. The revised plan also includes Rs.50 crore for transferring developed assets to resident welfare associations, Rs.50 crore for various schemes and development works, as well as allocations for Jankipuram, Kanpur Road and other projects. On the income side, the authority has projected receipts of Rs.420 crore, including Rs.390 crore expected from the state government for the urban expansion scheme and Rs.30 crore from lease-related receipts. The document also states that the LDA has an initial fund balance of Rs.3,226.40 crore and plans to finance its expenditure through income generated from schemes and the sale of plots.
