Agra, June 26 -- The lawyers and deed writers continued with their strike for the tenth day on Thursday opposing the proposed e-registration of sale deeds and creation of front offices at sub-registrar offices in Uttar Pradesh. These lawyers on strike at Agra and nearby districts have not allowed registration of sale deeds or other documents in the last 10 days causing loss of revenue in crores. Arvind Kumar Dubey, general secretary of Tehsil Bar Association at Agra said the strike is against orders issued on June 4 by the state government bringing in e-registration and to create front offices at tehsil premises. "All the lawyers, deed writers, stamp vendors and assistants at Sadar tehsil of Agra are continuing with the strike for the tenth day. We have not allowed registration of any document during these ten days and will continue with our strike till the state government withdraws its decision allowing e-registration and opening of front offices at tehsil premises all over the state," said Dubey. He says that the state government is planning to bring in private players in the name of e-registration of transfer documents. He claimed that working at more than 60 districts in the state is hampered because of the ongoing strike of lawyers and deed writers. Presently, the registration of documents including sale deeds, power of attorney, agreements etc are being undertaken online in Uttar Pradesh through Prerna Software. A provision has been introduced for a new module wherein facility of registration could be undertaken by authorised institutions through e-registration. The parties signing the documents will be required to be present at the offices of concerned departments with an authority authorised and for this separate login will be made available. This will be facilitated through biometric equipment, digital identity and digital signatures and registration fees for certain documents specified will be paid online....
