Lucknow, July 28 -- Amid the ongoing probe into the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple, Ayodhya police have reportedly found that Ram Shankar 'Tinnu' Yadav paid Rs 24 lakh in cash to buy a plot registered in his son's name for Rs 35 lakh, according to people familiar with the matter. Investigators suspect the cash was part of the stolen temple donations and the property is now set to be seized, the people quoted above added. According to sources, the land in the Sahadatganj area was purchased about a year ago in the name of Tinnu's son, Ravi Yadav. During Tinnu and his nephew Manish Yadav's 39-hour police custody remand on July 17 and 18, police also questioned the sellers.Documents show the deal was registered at around Rs 35 lakh, but based on location, the current market value is pegged at nearly Rs 50 lakh, people familiar with the matter said. As the bulk of the payment was made in cash, the transaction raised red flags for the probe team. Ashutosh Tripathi, circle officer, Ayodhya, who is investigating the case, said: "The probe is still going on.' Police are now compiling details of properties purchased by Tinnu's relatives in recent years. No direct evidence of his investment has surfaced yet, but investigators believe any such investment, if made, would also have been in cash. A detailed scrutiny of purchase records, payment modes and money trail is underway. Properties of all accused, including Tinnu who is in jail, are being examined for possible attachment. In the wake of the alleged donation theft, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust held a finance committee meeting on July 25 to make its donation management more transparent and secure. Chaired by interim general secretary Krishna Mohan, the meeting directed that salaries and payments to Trust employees, engineers and contract workers must be made on time without any delay.Trust engineer Jagdish Aapde and chartered accountant Chandan Rai were also present. The committee said the aim is to restore devotees' faith by ensuring greater transparency and accountability in all donation protocols. The key decisions taken at the meeting included reviewing and strengthening the memorandum of understanding (MoU) terms with banks to plug loopholes; creating a digital audit trail for every transaction to enable easy verification later; conducting regular internal audits of donation receipts, deposits and disbursement; and establishing stronger alert and verification systems in coordination with banks....
