Labourer electrocuted while unloading sand in Pratapgarh
PRAYAGRAJ, June 24 -- A 25-year-old labourer died after suffering an electric shock while unloading sand from a truck in Pratapgarh district on Tuesday, police said.
The incident took place near Bajhabhit village when the man's shovel allegedly came into contact with an overhead power line.
The deceased was identified as Rupchandra Saroj, a resident of Shahabad locality under the Manikpur police station area. He worked as a labourer to support his family.
According to police, Rupchandra was unloading sand from a truck at around 11 am when the accident occurred. The electric shock caused him to lose consciousness on the spot.
His co-workers rushed him to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Kalakankar for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Following a complaint lodged by the deceased's wife, police took possession of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. Station house officer (SHO) Pankaj Rai said further legal action is being taken in the matter....
