VARANASI, Aug. 4 -- Amidst tight security arrangements, a huge number of devotees offered prayers at Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi on the first Monday of Sawan. Many devotees also visited Mritujay Mahadev, Gauri Kedareshwar, Tilbhamdeshwar, Shooltankeshwar, Markandey Mahadev, Sarangnath Mahadev, Vishwanath Temple BHU and other Shiva Temples. Divisional commissioner S Rajalingam also visited the KV temple and performed the puja. He welcomed and greeted the pilgrims in queue by showering flowers upon them. He also closely inspected the arrangements made for pilgrims at the temple and instructed the concerned officials to ensure that all devotees visiting for darshan and puja have access to facilities. KV Temple chief executive officer Vishwa Bhushan Mishra and SDM Shambhu Kumar, were present on the occasion. Moreover, DM Satyendra Kumar and police commissioner Mohit Agarwal inspected the area surrounding the temple. Meanwhile, continuing the long-standing tradition, 'Yadav Bandhus' went to ghats, gathered the Ganga water and performed jalabhishek at temple. Another group of Yadav bandhus led by Yadav Mahasabha president Jagdish Yadav proceeded to the temple and performed the 'jalabhishek'. Additional commissioner of police (law and order) Shivhari Meena said, "Tight security arrangements are in place, and clear instructions have been given to cops for friendly and respectful behaviour towards the pilgrims."...
