PRAYAGRAJ, July 22 -- A major infrastructure project aimed at decongesting one of Prayagraj's busiest traffic corridors has moved a step forward, with chief minister Yogi Adityanath approving the construction of a 1.5-km, two-lane flyover on Kutchery Road. District officials confirmed that the proposed flyover, stretching from Laxmi Talkies crossing to Aeroplane crossing, is expected to provide lasting relief from frequent traffic snarls outside the district court and adjoining government offices. The Prayagraj unit of the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation (Setu Nigam) had submitted a proposal of Rs.25 crore for the project to the state government. Officials said that following the CM's approval, the proposal is likely to receive the governor's approval later this month, paving the way for budget allocation and commencement of construction. Confirming the development, Rohit Mishra, project manager of Setu Nigam, Prayagraj, said the detailed design would be prepared immediately after budget approval, after which the project would be taken up for execution. The proposed flyover will pass through one of the city's busiest administrative stretches, which houses the district court, public works department (PWD) office, Vikas Bhawan, district magistrate's office and the head post office. Heavy traffic movement in the area regularly leads to severe congestion, particularly during office hours.
