Kota hospital doctor among 3 suspended
Jaipur, May 10 -- The state health department on Saturday suspended a doctor and two nurses at the Kota Medical College and Hospital, days after two new mothers died due to complications after Caesarean sections, officials said.
Those suspended were Doctor Navneet Kumar, associate professor in the department of General Surgery, and senior nurses Gurjit Kaur and Nimish Verma, said commissioner of medical education, Babulal Goyal.
The action followed an inquiry into allegations of negligence in the treatment of six pregnant women admitted separately on May 3 and 4, he added.
The other four are still admitted at the hospital and in critical condition, said officials.
Kota Medical College principal Prasun Jain had on Thursday said that all six women underwent surgeries on Monday evening.

"Our teams are closely monitoring the situation. As per the chief minister's orders, we have taken immediate action based on primary findings," said Goyal.

"A show cause notice has been issued to Dr BL Patidar, professor and unit head of the department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, seeking his explanation of the incident," he said.
"We found major lapses in work, lack of adherence to prescribed medical protocol and laxity in monitoring patients," said state health secretary Gayatri Rathore.
"However, further action will be decided after the investigation arrives at a conclusive stage," she added.
"The hospital administration was ordered to conduct a comprehensive review of operation theatre management, anesthesia protocol, medication distribution systems, and post-operative monitoring systems and take immediate corrective action," said the health secretary.
"All of their symptoms were similar. They experienced a drop in blood pressure and kidney complications. It is clear some negligence took place. The exact causes of death are still unclear. Both autopsies were conducted and the probe is underway," said a regional health officer, refusing to be named....
