Killer leopard captured in Bahraich
Bahraich, July 22 -- The Forest Department has captured the leopard that allegedly killed an 88-year-old man in Ahiranpurwa village under the Kakarha range of Katarniaghat Wildlife Division.
The five-year-old female was trapped at about 11 p.m. on Monday and will be released into a suitable wild habitat after approval from the competent authorities, divisional forest officer Apoorv Dixit said.
Ram Yadav, 88, was fatally attacked while asleep in the verandah of his house on July 18.
The incident, about 500 metres from Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, triggered panic and prompted demands for the animal's capture.
Forest teams stepped up round-the-clock patrolling and installed a trap cage after securing the necessary permissions.
