LAKHIMPUR KHERI, May 17 -- District magistrate of Lakhimpur Kheri Anjani Kumar Singh has curtailed his official convoy and retained only a single vehicle for official duties in line with the Uttar Pradesh government's austerity measures following PM Narendra Modi's appeal. The district magistrate shelved escort vehicles and accommodated his officer on special duty (OSD) and district information department personnel in the same vehicle to ensure smooth functioning of official work. Confirming the move, Singh told Hindustan Times that at a time when the country is facing fuel-related challenges, every drop of fuel saved matters. "Reducing official vehicular movement is a simple yet effective way to contribute," he said. The impact of the move was visible during the Samadhan Diwas programme at Dhaurahara tehsil on Saturday, where several subordinate officials were reportedly inspired to follow suit....
