LUCKNOW, Aug. 18 -- A server outage at King George's Medical University (KGMU) on Monday disrupted essential hospital services, including fee payments, admissions, dischar- ges and access to diagnostic reports, leaving patients and attendants struggling for hours. The university, which has 4,500 beds and receives around 8,000 OPD patients daily, has been facing server glitches for the past few days. KGMU spokesperson Prof KK Singh attributed the recurring problems to issues with the NIC server in Delhi. Monday's outage caused difficulties for patients waiting for test reports, with many making repeated trips to counters to locate their reports. Treatment decisions and further procedures were also delayed in some cases. Patients arriving for morning registration and fee payments faced long waits, while admission and discharge processes were similarly affected. Those who had completed treatment and were ready to leave the hospital had to wait for the system to be restored. With online services unavailable, staff resorted to manual fee collection at several points, including OPD and pathology departments, to keep patient-related work moving.
