KGMU's Trauma Centre sees rush of visitors
LUCKNOW, June 24 -- King George's Medical University (KGMU) witnessed a hectic day on Tuesday as survivors of the Aliganj commercial building fire continued to receive treatment while political leaders and senior police officials visited the Trauma Centre to meet the injured and their families.
Among those who reached the hospital were BJP leader Neeraj Singh, Bakshi Ka Talab MLA Neeraj Bora and Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Rai. They interacted with victims and enquired about their treatment. Lucknow Zone ADG Praveen Kumar also reviewed the condition of the injured.
While one patient was discharged, 26-year-old Jayant remained admitted with severe burn and spinal injuries. Doctors have placed him on oxygen support, broad-spectrum antibiotics and close monitoring. The plastic surgery team is treating his burns. A series of investigations, including CT scans, abdominal ultrasonography, MRI of the spine and blood tests, revealed injury to the posterior ligamentous complex from D9 to D11, a possible spinal cord transection at D9-D10, and cord contusion with edema extending from D9 to D11, hospital authorities said.
KGMU said Jayant is conscious, alert and hemodynamically stable. His oxygen saturation is 96% on room air and he is not in respiratory distress....
