KGMU panel begins hearing in professor's private practice probe
LUCKNOW, July 1 -- A five-member King George's Medical University (KGMU) inquiry committee on Tuesday began formally examining allegations of private practice against a senior professor, questioning the accused on more than 25 points during a nearly 45-minute hearing, officials said.
The committee, constituted by the KGMU registrar following directions from the Uttar Pradesh Medical Council and the Jan Bhavan administration, summoned the professor from the department of physiology to present his version of events.
According to KGMU spokesperson Prof KK Singh, the committee sought explanations on the allegations of private practice and examined evidence submitted by the complainant, including photographs, patient prescriptions, diagnostic reports and other supporting documents.
The professor reportedly disputed the authenticity of the evidence and offered his own explanation regarding the photographs and prescriptions. His responses were recorded by the committee.
The inquiry will now move to the next stage, with the committee set to record the complainant's statement. A formal communication has been sent asking the complainant to appear before the panel and submit any additional evidence, including videos and other material related to the alleged private practice....
