LUCKNOW, Sept. 20 -- The KGMU Employees' Association on Saturday called off its agitation after the state government directed the university administration to implement decisions taken by its Executive Council (EC) on long-pending issues related to staff regularisation and promotions. The development followed a high-level meeting on September 14 chaired by ACS (medical education) Amit Kumar Ghosh, where KGMU vice-chancellor Prof Soniya Nityanand and other university officials presented the status of pending employee matters and explained the rationale behind the EC decisions. The government has now directed the KGMU registrar to ensure immediate implementation of the EC decisions. It has also asked the university to resubmit one proposal for reconsideration.
