LUCKNOW, Oct. 10 -- The recruitment of nursing officers at King George's Medical University (KGMU) has come under scrutiny with the Special Task Force (STF) and the state government investigating alleged irregularities. Complaints by many public representatives had raised questions over the examination methodology, alleging that the test was conducted through a manual, OMR-based system despite a different procedure being mentioned in the original advertisement. They also sought scrutiny of whether the change was consistent with the applicable recruitment rules. They further alleged that candidates from UP may have been overlooked, while a substantial number of candidates from Rajasthan were selected. The allegations were subject to investigation. The KGMU has prepared a statewide report detailing applications and selections for the recruitment of 1,276 nursing officers, advertised in 2023. According to the report, 17,269 candidates from Rajasthan applied, and 241 joined, accounting for a selection rate of around 1.40%. Uttar Pradesh recorded 34,644 applications, with a selection rate of 2.03%. Haryana had 2,271 applicants and a 2.03% selection rate, while Delhi recorded 2,220 applicants and a 3.65% selection rate. Other states accounted for 7,288 applications, with a selection rate of 1.37%. Responding to the probe, KGMU spokesperson Prof KK Singh said the selection process was conducted transparently and in accordance with the rules. He alleged that complaints were being made to tarnish the image of the university and the government. Singh said an online examination was initially planned, but the agency declined to conduct it, forcing the university to hold the examination offline....
