Kaushambi outshines in quality certification of govt health facilities
PRAYAGRAJ, July 18 -- Kaushambi has emerged as the best-performing district in the Prayagraj division in securing National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification for government health facilities.
Within the Prayagraj division, Kaushambi has recorded the highest achievement relative to its target. Chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Sanjay Kumar said that, as of June 2026, the district had secured 70 NQAS certifications against 130 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, achieving 53.85% of its target.
The district has also registered a significant milestone by obtaining certification for 19 additional health centres within just 25 days, underlining the pace of quality improvement initiatives.
In comparison, Prayagraj secured 124 certifications, Pratapgarh 69, and Fatehpur 84. However, in terms of target achievement, all three districts lagged behind Kaushambi, officials said. The certifications have been awarded to government health facilities that have met prescribed standards for quality treatment, patient care and healthcare service delivery.
The National Health Mission grants NQAS certification to government health facilities that demonstrate adherence to quality benchmarks, making it a key indicator of service excellence in the public healthcare system.
The certification is based on compliance with 14 service standards, covering critical areas such as intensive care units (ICUs), outpatient departments (OPDs), operation theatres, blood banks, pharmacies, radiology services, accident and emergency care, labour rooms, maternity wards, paediatric wards, Special Newborn Care Units (SNCUs), postmortem units, care units, Nutritional Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs), general hospital management and other support services....
