Kashit nagrale continues to hog limelight in AITA tourney
LUCKNOW, July 1 -- Unseeded Kashit Nagrale of Maharashtra on Tuesday announced his intent in emphatic fashion, dismantling sixth seed Upnishad Bhardwaj of Haryana's 6-1, 6-0 in the pre-quarters of the AITA Men's Tournament, at the Kesari Tennis Academy here.
Nagrale's serve and early court positioning left Bhardwaj scrambling throughout, and the Maharashtra player closed out the match inside an hour to advance with minimal fuss.
Fellow Maharashtra hopeful Nirav Shetty, maintained his steady form with a clinical 6-1, 6-2 victory over Punjab's Rahul Yadav. Shetty mixed depth and aggression well, punishing short balls and converting break points when they mattered to seal the straight-sets win.
Delhi's intra-city clash between fourth-seed Vansh Bisht and Kanishk Pal produced a much sterner test. After losing the first set 4-6, Bisht regrouped impressively to take the next two sets 6-0, 6-0 - a remarkable turnaround that highlighted Bisht's mental reset and tactical adjustments midway through the contest.
Haryana's Jagmeet Singh, the No.7 seed, continued his progression with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Amit Moond of Rajasthan. Singh's aggressive baseline strokes and timely net approaches kept the Rajasthan youngster on the defensive for most of the match.
Third seed Suraj Prabodh justified his billing with a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 win against Ayush Sharma. Prabodh's compact groundstrokes and consistent first-serve percentage prevented Sharma from finding any rhythm.
In one of the day's notable upsets, Prashant Proacha of Haryana overcame fellow Haryana player Vansh Nandal, the No 5 seed, 6-4, 7-5....
