Kashi transformed by dev, heritage revival under PM Modi: Khanna
VARANASI, June 14 -- Finance minister Suresh Khanna said that during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 12-year tenure, Kashi has emerged as a global symbol of India's ancient spiritual heritage while also being transformed with modern amenities and infrastructure. He asserted that the country has undergone a significant transformation since Modi assumed office, marked by major development initiatives and extensive public welfare projects.
Speaking on the occasion of the Central Government completing 12 years in office, Khanna said that several landmark development and public welfare projects have been carried out during this period. He added that the government is working towards the goal of making India self-reliant by 2047, and development initiatives are being implemented in line with that vision.
Khanna said that over the past 12 years, as many as 536 major projects worth more than Rs.36,211 crore have been completed and dedicated to the people of Kashi. These projects span sectors such as roads and bridges, drinking water, sewerage, education, healthcare, energy, tourism, urban development, and police welfare. He added that construction work on various projects worth over Rs.25,000 crore is currently in progress. In the district, 127 projects related to the construction of Ring Roads, national highways, state highways, district roads, and bridges have been completed in the district at a cost of more than Rs.22,829 crore, he said....
