Kashi gears up for two-day BRICS culture working group meet
VARANASI, June 4 -- Kashi is fully prepared to host the two-day BRICS Culture Working Group meeting, which begins on Thursday, following the arrival of several delegates from BRICS nations in Varanasi on Wednesday.
BRICS is an intergovernmental organisation that includes member nations such as Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
According to the deputy director, information, Surendra Pal, a total of 13 delegates have reached Varanasi to participate in the meeting.
The delegates received a grand and traditional welcome at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport. Dr Ramnaresh Pal, the acting regional cultural officer, stated that guests who arrived on Wednesday evening were specifically greeted with a performance of the Faruwahi folk dance at the airport.
Divisional commissioner S Rajalingam said that officials have been instructed to showcase Varanasi's rich cultural heritage and traditions of hospitality. He emphasised that the cultural programmes organised as part of the BRICS Summit would "offer a unique opportunity to present the rich cultural identity of Kashi on the global stage".
Additional commissioner of police, law and order, Shivhari Meena, reported that "Tight security arrangements are in place at the meeting venue"....
