MEERUT, May 20 -- The Member of Parliament (MP) from Kairana Iqra Hasan on Tuesday accused the police administration of attempting to exert pressure on her after she was allegedly made to sit at a women's police station for nearly 10 minutes following a protest at the DIG office in Saharanpur. The controversy erupted when the MP reached the office of DIG Abhishek Singh, accompanying an elderly woman from Jasala village in Shamli district. The woman had approached senior police officials seeking a fair investigation into the murder of her son, claiming dissatisfaction with the ongoing probe. According to Iqra Hasan, the elderly woman had come to the DIG office with hopes of receiving justice and presenting her grievances before senior officials. However, the MP alleged that the woman was not given a satisfactory response. Hasan claimed that during the interaction at the DIG office, the woman became emotional and later walked out of the office feeling hurt and disappointed. The MP said she raised her voice in support of the victim and registered her protest over the handling of the matter. During the protest, a dispute allegedly arose regarding parking arrangements at the office premises. Hasan alleged that police officials cited traffic disruption as a reason to intervene and subsequently took her to the women's police station, despite her being present in the parking area at the time. The Kairana MP further claimed that she possesses video evidence related to the incident and alleged that the move to take her to the women's police station and make her sit there for around 10 minutes was intended to create pressure on her. "The administration should prioritise listening to the grievances of victims so that people do not have to wander from office to office seeking justice," Hasan said, criticising the police administration's conduct.
