Bengaluru, Aug. 26 -- The Karnataka government on Tuesday transferred the investigation into the death of three persons in a firing incident involving forest department personnel in the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary in Hanur taluk of Chamarajanagar district to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The decision was taken following an order issued by Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) M B Saleem. The four FIRs registered in connection with the incident have been transferred to the CID for further investigation. The Chamarajanagar Superintendent of Police has been directed to hand over the records and related documents to the CID. A special unit of the CID will now conduct the investigation and examine the circumstances that led to the firing, the sequence of events and the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Four separate cases had been registered in connection with the incident. One FIR was registered at Ramapura police station, two at Hanur police station and another at Kollegal Rural police station.
