LUCKNOW, July 24 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) on Thursday demolished an existing structure in Jiamau, clearing the way for a new access road that will connect premium commercial plots with Lohia Path. A joint enforcement and engineering team carried out the demolition. LDA deployed heavy police force in view of the property's previous association with a public representative. The operation concluded peacefully without any law and order issues, said officials. The demolition marks the first major on-ground action after the LDA completed auction of the prime property. The move is significant as the cleared land is located adjacent the proposed BJP state headquarters. LDA officials said the authority had auctioned commercial plots, but the absence of an approach road prevented it from handing over "fully accessible" possession to the successful bidder. With the structure removed, the authority will now prepare plans for road construction and to provide connectivity to the auctioned land. According to official records shared by an LDA official, the demolition was carried out in compliance with the demolition order passed by the court of the prescribed authority on December 26, 2020. The action covered portions of land plot nos. 1 and 2, part of Khasra no. 205 and building no. 3/205 in Jiamau under Gautampalli police station. Officials said removing the structure was necessary to free the land from encumbrances before development work could begin. The proposed access road is expected to significantly enhance the commercial potential of the auctioned plots by providing direct connectivity with Lohia Path, paving the way for future infrastructure development in the strategically located area....
