LUCKNOW, March 7 -- Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai on Friday said it was a pity that the country had to seek monthly permissions from the United States to get Russian oil. He was addressing the media during a Holi-related event at the party headquarters. "We have to run the country on US's permission. Well, that is shameful for the leaders who make tall claims," he said. The US on Friday announced it was granting a 30-day temporary waiver to Indian refineries to continue purchase of Russian oil. Rai and Congress state incharge Avinash Pandey, Tanuj Punia, Barabanki MP and chairman of the Scheduled Castes (SCs) department of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, Congress legislature party leader Aradhana MIshra and other senior leaders participated in the event. "The Union government is making a mockery of the rights of people and an example of this is MGNREGA. This was a right to work given to people which the BJP government plans to scrap by replacing it with the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G)," said Pandey. The UPCC human rights department was merged with the state unit's law department with the approval of Pandey.
