Haldwani, Sept. 1 -- The irrigation department has identified 75 alleged encroachments along a canal stretch between Dahariya and Panchayat Ghar in the Devalchaur area of Haldwani and issued notices to the occupants, directing them to voluntarily remove the structures within the stipulated period, officials said on Monday. The action follows an exercise carried out by the department to identify structures that have allegedly come up on irrigation department land along both sides of the canal. Officials said the encroachments were identified on the stretch beginning from Dahariya, passing behind Sushila Tiwari Hospital (STH), and extending up to Panchayat Ghar.
