New Delhi, July 31 -- India and Singapore are expected to conclude several agreements for bilateral cooperation, including in the field of food security and skilling for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), at a meeting of the bilateral ministerial roundtable next month, people familiar with the matter said. The fourth meeting of the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR), a special mechanism created in 2022 to advance collaboration in crucial sectors such as technology, investments and advanced manufacturing, is set to be hosted by Singapore during August 20-21. The meeting will pave the way for a summit between the PMs of the two countries later in the year, the people said. The Indian side will be represented at the ISMR by external affairs minister S Jaishankar, commerce minister Piyush Goyal, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and electronic and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the people said. A number of agreements, including pacts on food security, skilling for MRO operations and people-to-people contacts, are expected to be signed during the upcoming meeting, people familiar with preparations for the ISMR said. The meeting will largely focus on the six pillars of cooperation identified by India and Singapore - advanced manufacturing, sustainability, digitalisation, healthcare and medicine, skilling, and connectivity, the people said. The third meeting of the ISMR, hosted by India in August 2025, reviewed ways to deepen cooperation under these six pillars and identified several specific initiatives. Singapore continues to be one of India's most important partners in the Asean region under New Delhi's "Act East" policy and the two sides elevated their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in September 2024. The two countries have also focused on ambitious proposals such as an undersea cable to carry solar energy from India to Singapore, training 100,000 Indian workers in hi-tech fields and ramping up investments....
