Lucknow, Aug. 9 -- Monsoon activity is likely to remain relatively limited over the next three days, with isolated heavy rainfall expected, particularly in the southern parts of the state, the weatherman said on Saturday. As a result of widespread rainfall in the state during the last 5 to 6 days, the regional rainfall deviation has improved by 10%, decreasing from minus 29% to minus 19%, resulting in the overall regional rainfall falling within the normal range (-19 to +19%). Since June 1, the state has recorded 337 mm of rainfall against a long-period average of 416.4 mm - a 19% deficit. However, the distribution remains uneven, with Western UP faring significantly better than its eastern parts of the state. East UP saw 329.5 mm rainfall against the normal 443.7 mm with a deficit of 26% while West UP region received 347.9 mm rain against the normal 378.3 mm with a deficit of 8%. In the last 24 hours, Agra Met observatory recorded heavy rainfall (94.4 mm) while Chhatnag (Prayagraj) received 70 mm, Lalitpur 66 mm, Dadri (Gautam Buddha Nagar) 64.5 mm rain. Lucknow's rain deficit is pegged at 27% as the state capital received 269 mm rainfall against the normal 370.1 mm since June 1. On Saturday, maximum and minimum temperatures in Lucknow were 33.5 and 27.8deg Celsius, respectively.
