IIT-BHU, Indian Navy ink MoU to drive indigenous defence tech development
VARANASI, Aug. 2 -- Indian Institute of Technology-Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU), Varanasi, and the Indian Navy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Naval Headquarters in New Delhi on 30 July 2026.
The partnership aims to foster collaborative research, technology development and innovation in advanced naval and defence technologies.
The MoU was signed by vice admiral B Sivakumar, AVSM, VSM, controller of material (COM), Indian Navy and Prof Rajesh Kumar, dean (research & development), IIT (BHU), Varanasi.
The collaboration will focus on strategic domains including advanced weapons and sensor technologies, underwater object detection, radar systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, quantum technologies, cyber security, robotics, power electronics, advanced materials, maritime engineering, naval infrastructure and other emerging technologies relevant to the operational requirements of the Indian Navy....
