LUCKNOW, Aug. 11 -- A server malfunction at King George's Medical University (KGMU) disrupted outpatient department (OPD) registration, diagnostic fee payments and report collection for nearly three hours on Monday, causing inconvenience to thousands of patients. The medical university's spokesperson Dr KK Singh said the technical problem originated at NIC Delhi. "Services were managed manually to minimise inconvenience to patients until the server was restored," he added. The online system went down around the start of OPD services, stalling registration and payment facilities at both the new and old OPD blocks. Though registration was scheduled to begin at 8 am, patients waited until around 10 am, after which a commotion broke out at the counters. Officials switched to offline registration and fee collection, but patients had to wait for the server to be restored to receive diagnostic reports. KGMU's OPD handles 7,000-8,000 patients daily....
