Holi Milan resounds with Phag of Baiswara
LUCKNOW, March 7 -- Members of industry, those associated with social and cultural diaspora of the city, politicians, bureaucrats and journalists came together under one roof as part of a Holi Milan programme 'Baiswari Phag Ki Goonj Rajdhani' organised by Indo American Chamber of Commerce on the lawns of a private hotel on Friday.
The famous Phag of Baiswara (Rae Bareli) was rendered by over 300 people who were present in the event in two groups. They sang while also playing traditional instruments like - Nagada, Dhol, Manjhira and Jhala.
It was a riot of colours when people applied gulal and enjoyed themselves and met each other after Holi.
Organisers said the aim of the event was to bring the authentic cultural heritage of the Baiswara region to the state capital and provide a platform for folk artistes whose performances are deeply rooted in local traditions and seasonal festivities.
Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak, social worker Namrata Pathak, minister of state (Independent Charge) for horticulture, agricultural marketing, agricultural foreign trade and agricultural export Dinesh Pratap Singh, members of legislative assembly Pankaj Singh, Rakesh Singh, former chief secretary Alok Ranjan, principal chief conservator of forests Sunil Chaudhary, PCCF monitoring and working plans Prabhakar Bura, former minister Anant Mishra, former IPS Gopal Gupta, former director general (CRPF) AP Maheshwari, former minister Swati Singh, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Anil Dubey were present on the occasion.
