Haldwani, Sept. 21 -- A 37-year-old restaurant cashier died after being allegedly hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Rudrapur-Kashipur highway in Udham Singh Nagar district late on Saturday night, police said. According to Rudrapur SHO PS Danu, locals informed police that a man was lying on the highway. He was taken to a government hospital in a 108 ambulance, where doctors declared him dead. Police took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. The deceased was identified as Manvinder Singh, 37, son of Balvinder Singh and a resident of Milak in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. He worked as a cashier at a restaurant on the Kashipur highway, police said. Preliminary investigation suggested Singh was returning home after finishing work when an unidentified vehicle struck him.
