Heavy vehicles barred on Lko-Ayodhya road
LUCKNOW, Aug. 8 -- Heavy goods vehicles will be barred on the Lucknow-Ayodhya route during key dates of the Kanwar yatra and other religious events in August, with the first restriction coming into effect from 8am on Saturday, officials said on Friday.
The restriction will remain in place from 8am on August 8 to 8am on August 11, or until the movement of devotees eases. Trucks, DCMs, tractors and other heavy goods vehicles will not be allowed to use the Ayodhya road during the period.
The diversion plan has been issued by the Ayodhya traffic department and shared with the Lucknow traffic police. The move is aimed at keeping heavy commercial traffic away from routes expected to witness increased movement of Kanwariyas and devotees.
ADCP (Traffic) Raghavendra Singh said heavy vehicles approaching the Ayodhya road from Kisan Path would be diverted as per the plan received from Ayodhya. "An official traffic diversion plan has been received from Ayodhya. Accordingly, heavy vehicles will remain restricted from Kisan Path towards the Ayodhya road," he said.
According to the plan, heavy vehicles travelling from Shaheed Path towards Barabanki, Ayodhya and Basti will be diverted towards the Purvanchal Expressway and will be able to proceed to their respective destinations using the expressway.
The traffic restrictions will be imposed on several other dates this month in view of the expected rush of devotees....
