MUSSOORIE, Aug. 10 -- Intense rain lashed several parts of Uttarakhand over the past 24 hours, with Loharkhet in Bageshwar recording the highest rainfall of 139 mm, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for four districts for Monday, warning of heavy rain. The orange alert has been issued for Dehradun, Bageshwar, Nainital and Champawat, with the weather office forecasting an increase in rainfall intensity from Sunday evening. According to the IMD's daily bulletin issued on Sunday, Loharkhet recorded 139 mm of rain in the 24 hours till 8.30 am, followed by Sama with 113 mm and Kapkot with 42 mm, all in Bageshwar district. Other significant rainfall figures included 43 mm at Dharchula and 12.4 mm at Munsiyari in Pithoragarh district, while Joshimath recorded 25.6 mm and Karnaprayag 18.2 mm in Chamoli. Rishikesh in Dehradun district received 25 mm, while Banbasa in Champawat recorded 13.6 mm. Haripur in Dehradun district received 45.6 mm, while Mussoorie recorded 6.2 mm, Dehradun 2.2 mm and Jolly Grant 0.2 mm. Garud and Bageshwar recorded 8 mm and 6 mm respectively. Tehri-Narendranagar received 7.5 mm, while Ukhimath in Rudraprayag also recorded 7.5 mm. Uttarkashi recorded 2 mm, while another station recorded 0.6 mm, according to the IMD bulletin.
