Health camp set up after residents fall ill in Lko area
LUCKNOW, May 18 -- A medical camp was organised in LKS Colony near Sitapur Road on Sunday after over two dozen residents complained of fever, vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain, allegedly due to contaminated water supply, officials said.
The department of medical health & family welfare sent a team of doctors and health workers from the CMO's office to examine affected residents. Officials said the patients' condition improved after receiving treatment. "A team comprising doctors and health workers was sent to examine the affected residents. Medicines were distributed and an awareness campaign on disease prevention was conducted in the locality," said Dr NB Singh, CMO. A sanitation drive was also carried out, while the Water Works Department began repairing the damaged pipeline suspected of contaminating the supply. Water tankers are being deployed until the work is completed. "A new tubewell was recently constructed, and increased pressure caused problems in the existing pipeline network. New pipelines are now being laid and the work will be completed in the next 24 hours. It will ensure better water supply and benefit residents for at least the next 15 years," said Kuldeep Singh, general manager, Water Works Department.
