Headmistress suspended for brandishing knife, cleaver at school
PRAYAGRAJ/LUCKNOW, July 18 -- A headmistress of a government primary school in Kaushambi was suspended after she allegedly brought a knife and a cleaver to the school on Friday and was seen brandishing the weapons on the premises, triggering panic among students and staff. A video purportedly showing the incident has gone viral on social media, although Hindustan Times could not independently verify its authenticity.
The incident occurred at Primary School Lukiya in Kada block, where Shikha Singh Patel, a resident of Allapur in Prayagraj and the acting headmistress of the school, had allegedly been bringing sharp-edged weapons to the school for the past three to four days.
Following a report by the Block Education Officer, the Basic Shiksha Adhikari suspended the acting headmistress, Shikha Singh Patel, while Saini police registered an FIR on the complaint of an assistant teacher. Upon receiving the complaint, Saini police station in-charge Trilokinath Pandey reached the school and questioned the headmistress. According to him, she appeared to be mentally disturbed.
Sirathu Deputy Superintendent of Police Satyendra Tiwari said the preliminary inquiry also indicated that the headmistress was not mentally well.
"An FIR has been registered and the investigating officer has been directed to conduct a fair probe and take action in accordance with the findings," he said....
