Head constable suspended hours after killing wife
LUCKNOW, Sept. 8 -- A head constable accused of killing his wife during a domestic dispute was suspended hours after the incident, late on Sunday night, even as the family of the woman alleged that years of domestic violence and the constable's alcohol addiction had preceded the fatal attack.
The killing has left behind their one-year-old son, Tanmay.
"Head constable Himanshu Srivastava allegedly attacked his wife Rashmi Srivastava on Sunday following a dispute, hitting her on the head with a pestle. She suffered serious injuries and died," DCP Central Vikrant Bir had said.
Police suspended Himanshu late Sunday night and said further legal action was being taken against him.
Meanwhile, the accused has not revealed much about his motive to kill his wife. ACP Mahanagar Ankit Kumar said, "the accused has not said much during the interrogation as he has kept mum all through the questioning."...
