Lucknow, Aug. 15 -- The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Friday sought replies from the central and state governments on a public interest litigation (PIL) regarding the potholes that appeared on the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway shortly after its opening and allegations of corruption in its construction. The court directed the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the National Highways Authority of India, and the state transport department to respond point-by-point to the allegations in the petition.A division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Manjive Shukla passed the order on a PIL filed by Motilal Yadav, a local advocate. The petition alleged that within 26 days of the expressway's opening, potholes or road breaks developed at 74 different locations.
