HC puts interim stay on further appointments
LUCKNOW, May 9 -- The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Friday fixed May 12 as the next date of hearing in a case of dispute over the implementation of reservations in the RO/ARO Recruitment Examination 2023.
The court also put an interim stay on further appointments to these posts until the next date. The division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Manjive Shukla passed the order on a special appeal filed by Vivek Yadav and others. The appeal challenges the single bench's order of February 1, 2026, which denied interim relief to the appellants. The appellants argued that they belong to the OBC category and scored higher marks in the preliminary examination than at least 25 candidates selected for the main examination from the general category, yet they were declared unsuccessful in the preliminary examination. Opposing the petition, lawyers for the state government and the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission informed the court that most of the successful candidates in the recruitment examination have already received appointments....
