hc gives british national bail in seven uapa cases
New Delhi, Sept. 19 -- The Delhi high court on Friday granted bail to British national Jagtar Singh, alias Jaggi Johal, in seven UAPA cases alleging his involvement in a Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) conspiracy linked to target killings in Ludhiana and Jalandhar in 2010 and funding the proscribed outfit.
A bench of justices Navin Chawla and Ravinder Dudeja granted him bail, noting that he had been in custody since November 4, 2017 and there was no likelihood for the trial to be completed in near future.
"We find that the appellant has remained in custody for more than 8 years. Though the charges stand framed against the appellant in the aforesaid RCs, only 40 witnesses have so far been examined... the trial is certainly not likely to conclude any time soon," theHC said.htc...
