Haldwani stages stir over police action on delhi neet protesters
Haldwani, July 25 -- Students staged a protest in Haldwani on Friday against the alleged lathi-charge on youths demonstrating at Delhi's Jantar Mantar over the NEET-UG paper leak issue, carrying a symbolic funeral bier of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The procession led to a brief scuffle with police when officers attempted to stop the protesters from carrying the bier further.
A large number of students marched from MBPG College to Buddha Park, raising slogans against the Union government and demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations.
When the procession reached Tikonia Crossing, police intervened and tried to prevent the protesters from proceeding with the symbolic bier. The intervention resulted in a heated argument between the protesters and police, followed by a brief scuffle.
The protesters demanded the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak and Uttarakhand higher education minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat over the alleged leak of an examination paper at Uttarakhand Technical University. The students later marched to the District Magistrate's camp office and submitted a memorandum to City Magistrate AP Bajpai....
